This luminous glass mosaic by Nikki Johnson—visual artist and wife of guitarist Justin Johnson—is a tribute to an often misunderstood icon: Yoko Ono. Created entirely from white and black iridized glass, the piece mirrors the layered complexity and quiet strength that defined Yoko’s life, art, and love story with John Lennon.

The iridescent black glass flickers with changing light, offering new depth at every angle—just like Yoko herself, whose presence continues to provoke, inspire, and challenge expectations. The clean, matte white and glimmering surface contrast is set inside a high-gloss, wavy white lacquer frame, reinforcing the unmistakable visual language of peace that she and John embraced.

In Nikki’s words:

“To those who villainize her, my answer is always this: John chose her. He found massive inspiration in her. They faced it all together. She was clearly his muse, his creative partner, and his co-conspirator in love and art.”

This piece was created as a companion to Nikki’s Lennon mosaic, both aesthetically and symbolically. The use of white is intentional—a nod to the all-white world John and Yoko envisioned, from their Bed-In for Peace to the art they made in defiance of war, judgment, and noise.

“When Justin and I stayed in the Lennon-Ono Suite at the Hilton Amsterdam—the same one where they held their 1969 Bed-In—we filled the room with white flowers. That night, Justin picked up the white guitar in the room, sang a song he wrote for me, and asked me to marry him.”
